From 2018 to 2023, Mali's production of fresh beans more than doubled, supported by government subsidies for agricultural inputs and price guarantees for producers. Market volume initially followed this upward trend, with a sharp expansion to 5.4 thousand tons in 2020 coinciding with strengthened public food security policies and adapted public procurement regulations that facilitated import access to ensure supplies.

After the 2020 peak, market volume adjusted downward, falling to 4.4 thousand tons in 2022 due to the onset of bean exports and the impact of international conflict on grain trade flows, which altered market dynamics. This occurred alongside the development of new agricultural methods, such as soilless organic horticulture in Bamako. By 2023, production reached 6.1 thousand tons and market volume recovered to 4.8 thousand tons, reflecting the sector's sustained growth momentum.

Mali's bean production has grown for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 4 252 tonnes of beans, marking a significant increase of 23.9% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, production rose by 124.2%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 30.9%.
