Earlier Report Observations

The Asian barytes market volume reached 5 700 тыс. т in 2018, supported by high global production, particularly in China where output exceeded 500 тыс. т. It then declined to 4 500 тыс. т in 2019 and further to 4 038 тыс. т in 2020, while market concentration increased and products became more segmented.

Recovery began in 2021 with market volume rising to 4 228 тыс. т, driven by technological progress that enabled ultra-fine precipitated barytes for high-end applications. Growth continued to 4 388 тыс. т in 2022 as stricter environmental regulations prompted green production upgrades and R&D investment in nano-scale products.

In 2023, the barytes industry experienced strong demand from the paint sector, with China's production capacity around 800 тыс. т per year and exports far exceeding imports. Competition intensified among major players like Shaanxi Fuhua Chemical and Hongxing Development. In 2024, technological innovations introduced ultra-micro barytes below 0.3μm, improving paint gloss by 15%, while environmental regulations reduced heavy metal impurities, and geopolitical factors affected supply chains.
