Banana production in Nepal showed a mixed trend in recent years. After two consecutive years of growth, output declined in 2020 to 254.2 thousand tonnes, marking an 8.9% decrease from the previous year. Looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, production actually increased by 2.6%, with an average annual growth rate of 0.9%. The peak was reached in 2019 at 278.9 thousand tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 9.6%.
