Earlier Report Observations

The market for artificial parts of the body in Croatia expanded from approximately 24.8 million $ in 2018 to 42.5 million $ in 2024. A temporary contraction to 22.6 million $ in 2020 was driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted supply chains and deferred elective medical procedures. Recovery commenced in 2021, supported by the implementation of the Law on the Application of Human Tissues and Cells, which established clear safety and quality standards for medical devices, thereby bolstering market confidence.

Accelerated growth of 37% in 2023 and 21% in 2024 was fueled by technological adoption and evolving demand. The integration of additive manufacturing (3D printing) enabled faster, cost-effective production of personalized implants, while artificial intelligence began optimizing design processes. Concurrent shifts in consumer preferences towards personalized health and wellness solutions increased demand. Regulatory harmonization with EU standards, including updates to the Law on Construction Products in 2024, streamlined market access for new medical devices.
