The market for artificial parts of the body in Slovakia declined to 27.4 million $ US in 2020 after maintaining a stable size of around 28.8 million $ US in 2018-2019. A strong recovery began in 2021, driving the market to 50.9 million $ US by 2024.

This expansion was supported by a substantial increase in imports, which grew from 35.5 million $ US to 57.5 million $ US over the period. Domestic production showed volatility, ranging between 1.9 million $ US and 2.4 million $ US, with a peak in 2023.

Exports fluctuated between 6.8 million $ US and 9.5 million $ US, concluding at 8.8 million $ US in 2024, reflecting ongoing international trade activity alongside the growing domestic market reliance on imports.

The highest production value was recorded in 2018 at 2 209 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest annual increase of 9.2%.

After two years of growth, the volume of artificial body parts exported from Slovakia declined. In 2020, exports totaled 3 567 kilograms, a sharp decrease of 59.8% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports fell by 41.6%, with a compound annual growth rate of -16.4%. The peak export volume was recorded in 2019 at 8 864 kilograms, which also experienced the largest annual increase of 24.5%.

Following two years of gains, the value of artificial body parts exported from Slovakia declined. In 2020, export value totaled 6 954 thousand US dollars, marking a significant drop of 26.7% from the previous year. The highest export value was recorded in 2019 at 9 483 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest annual increase of 6.3%.
