From 2018 to 2023, the apricot market volume in New Zealand showed considerable volatility. It started at 2 456 tonnes in 2018, rose slightly to 2 508 tonnes in 2019, then dropped to 2 122 tonnes in 2020. A sharp recovery followed in 2021, pushing the market to a peak of 2 562 tonnes.

The market contracted severely in 2022, falling by 31% to 1 765 tonnes, the lowest level in the period. A modest rebound occurred in 2023, with volume reaching 1 890 tonnes, but it remained well below the levels seen from 2018 to 2021. Domestic apricot production declined throughout these years, directly reducing the supply available for the local market.
