The Swedish market for fresh apples, pears and quinces in volume terms began the period with stability, as market size held at around 138 thousand tonnes in 2018 and 2019. A notable increase followed in 2020, lifting the market volume to 144 thousand tonnes. This peak was followed by a gradual contraction over the next three years, with the market declining to 142.2 thousand tonnes in 2021, 137.7 thousand tonnes in 2022, and reaching 135.3 thousand tonnes by 2023.

In value terms, the market displayed considerable volatility. After a sharp drop to 137.3 million USD in 2019 from 185.6 million USD the previous year, it recovered to 170.7 million USD in 2020 and grew further to 179 million USD in 2021. Another significant decline occurred in 2022 to 146.4 million USD, before a slight rebound to 150 million USD in 2023. Domestic production in volume mirrored some of this instability, falling sharply in 2019 before recovering and stabilizing above 33 thousand tonnes from 2021 onward.
