The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 148.8 million US dollars, while the peak occurred in 2018 at 230.7 million US dollars. The most substantial drop was observed in 2019, with a decline of 35.5%.

Following a two-year decline, Slovakia's production volume of aluminium bars, rods and profiles rebounded in 2020. The country produced 47 641 tonnes that year, representing a 26.6% increase compared to the previous year. Over the four-year span from 2017 to 2020, overall production decreased by 15.1%, averaging an annualized decline of 5.3%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 37 623 tonnes, which also saw the largest drop of 26.2%.

Slovakia's exports of aluminium bars, rods and profiles by volume declined for the second year in a row in 2020. Exports totaled 47 157 tonnes, reflecting a modest decrease of 6.8% from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, exports fell by 8.3%, with an annualized decline rate of 2.8%. The highest export volume was achieved in 2018 at 53 854 tonnes, which also experienced the largest increase of 4.8%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Germany, Czechia, and Hungary were the top destinations for Slovakia's aluminium bars, rods and profiles exports by volume. Germany accounted for 32.1% of exports, Czechia for 23.6%, and Hungary for 9.3%. Together, these three countries represented 65.0% of Slovakia's total export flows in this category.

For the second consecutive year, the value of Slovakia's aluminium bars, rods and profiles exports declined in 2020. Exports amounted to 197.2 million US dollars, showing a substantial drop of 14.1% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, export value decreased by 13.6%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -4.8%. The peak value was recorded in 2018 at 258.5 million US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 13.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany, Czechia, and Hungary were the largest buyers of aluminium bars, rods and profiles from Slovakia in value terms. The highest import volume was in 2018 at 41 069 tonnes, which also recorded the largest increase of 8.2%. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 5.4%.

Poland led with 23.2% of imports, followed by Germany at 16.5% and Austria at 10.2%. The value of Slovakia's imports of aluminium bars, rods and profiles fell for the second year in a row in 2020. Import value stood at 163.0 million US dollars, down 9.7% from the previous year. The highest import value was recorded in 2018 at 190.5 million US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 17.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland, Germany, and Austria remained the primary suppliers of aluminium bars, rods and profiles to Slovakia in value terms. Poland accounted for 19.9% of import value, Germany for 19.3%, and Austria for 15.3%. Combined, these three countries represented 54.4% of Slovakia's total import value in this category.
