The almond market in Western Asia experienced considerable volume fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. After an initial decline to 372.2 thousand tonnes in 2019, market volume recovered to 421.1 thousand tonnes in 2020, dipped again over the next two years, and then surged strongly to reach 479.3 thousand tonnes in 2023.

Domestic production followed a general upward trajectory, increasing from 254.9 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 349.8 thousand tonnes in 2023. Imports declined from 195.8 thousand tonnes in 2018 to a low of 134.4 thousand tonnes in 2020 before climbing back to 208.1 thousand tonnes in 2023. Exports grew from 40.7 thousand tonnes in 2018 to a high of 81.5 thousand tonnes in 2022, then eased to 78.5 thousand tonnes in 2023.

Market value showed a different pattern, peaking at 3.65 billion US dollars in 2020 before contracting to 2.63 billion in 2022 and recording a modest recovery to 2.69 billion in 2023, highlighting a divergence between volume growth and price movements in the latter part of the period.
