From 2018 to 2023, the market volume for alliaceous vegetables in Peru underwent a significant contraction followed by a partial recovery. Starting at 540 thousand tons in 2018, domestic availability fell steadily to a low of 335 thousand tons in 2022, a drop of over 200 thousand tons or nearly 40%. The trend reversed in 2023, with the market expanding to 378 thousand tons.

This movement was closely tied to changes in local production, which declined from 771 thousand tons in 2018 to 647 thousand tons in 2022 before edging up to 657 thousand tons in 2023. With no imports recorded, the supply for the domestic market was entirely dependent on Peruvian output.

In value terms, the market followed a similar pattern, decreasing from $210 million in 2018 to $137 million in 2022 and then recovering to $183 million in 2023. The temporary increase in market value in 2020, despite lower volume, suggests fluctuating price levels during the period.
