Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2020, the alcoholic beer market in Oceania experienced modest growth, with total volume expanding from 2 370 million liters to 2 392 million liters. Domestic production remained relatively stable at around 2 070–2 095 million liters, while imports fluctuated between 334 and 373 million liters.

From 2021 onward, the market contracted significantly. Volume fell to 2 364 million liters in 2021 and then dropped sharply to 2 075 million liters in 2022, reaching 2 009 million liters in 2023. This decline was driven by a reduction in domestic production, which plummeted to 1 787 million liters in 2022 before a partial recovery to 1 851 million liters in 2023. Imports and exports also trended downward over this period.

In 2024, import and export volumes continued to decrease, with imports at 185 million liters and exports at 10 million liters. During this year, global industry trends highlighted shifting consumer preferences toward non-alcoholic and craft beer, increased e-commerce penetration, and a focus on premiumization and health-oriented products, which are reshaping beer markets worldwide.
