Between 2018 and 2019, the alcoholic beer market in the Dominican Republic expanded from 537.0 million liters to 595.2 million liters, supported by growing consumption and the dominant position of Cervecería Nacional Dominicana (CND), which held about 99% of the market and continuously innovated its portfolio. The market then contracted to 560.3 million liters in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted consumer activity and import flows.

Recovery followed in 2021, with market volume reaching 597.4 million liters. This rebound was fueled by a 27.1% sales increase in the beverage sector and CND's ambitious investment plan worth 17.64 billion pesos aimed at modernization and expansion. By 2022, the market grew slightly to 608.3 million liters, underpinned by CND's push for local production and its agreement to revive the domestic glass industry with Caribbean Glass Industry.

A sharp surge to 896.4 million liters occurred in 2023. This growth coincided with CND inaugurating a modern Logistics Transformation Hub with a capacity for over 115 million bottles, enhancing distribution, and shifting consumer preferences among millennials and Gen Z toward distinctive flavor profiles and refreshing experiences.

After two years of growth, alcoholic beer production in the Dominican Republic declined. In 2020, the country produced 536.4 million liters of alcoholic beer, which was 6.7% lower than in 2019. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, production increased by 9.1% overall, averaging a 3.0% annual growth rate. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 575.2 million liters, with that year also seeing the largest annual increase of 10.6%.
