Burdur Sugar Factory targets 87,000 tonnes of sugar in 2026-2027 campaign

Burdur Sugar Factory plans to process 640,000 tonnes of sugar beet during its 2026-2027 campaign. The plant is targeting 87,000 tonnes of crystal sugar, alongside 30,000 tonnes of molasses and 120,000 tonnes of wet beet pulp.

Beet deliveries begin in Burdur

Burdur Sugar Factory has started accepting sugar beet for its 2026-2027 production campaign, setting a target of 87,000 tonnes of crystal sugar. According to Haberler.com, the plant expects to process 640,000 tonnes of beet during the campaign.

The intake programme covers beet grown by producers in the factory’s supply area. Factory manager Mehmet Zararsız said crops produced in 2026 would be received at 13 beet collection centres operated through the plant’s regional units before being transported to the factory.

The collection network will be central to maintaining a continuous flow of raw material. Beet is a time-sensitive crop, and the stated processing schedule requires coordinated harvesting, weighing, collection and transport across the region.

Plant plans 114 days of continuous processing

Beet processing is scheduled to begin on 12 October. The factory plans to operate around the clock in three shifts, handling an average of 5,600 tonnes of beet per day. The campaign is expected to run for approximately 114 days.

If carried out as planned, the schedule would give regional growers a defined delivery window and provide the factory with enough throughput to pursue its output targets. Actual production will depend on the volume and condition of beet delivered, as well as the plant’s ability to sustain operations throughout the campaign.

Haberler.com did not provide figures for the previous campaign, national sugar output or Turkish sugar consumption. The 87,000-tonne target therefore cannot be directly compared with the factory’s earlier performance or measured as a share of national supply on the basis of the available information.

Sugar, molasses and pulp output

In addition to crystal sugar, Burdur Sugar Factory is targeting 30,000 tonnes of molasses and 120,000 tonnes of wet beet pulp. These co-products broaden the campaign’s commercial importance beyond the sugar market and give the plant multiple output streams from the same beet intake.

The three production targets will matter to different buyers. Crystal sugar is the campaign’s principal product, while molasses and wet pulp can provide additional revenue and outlets for processed beet material. For growers, the campaign creates demand for 640,000 tonnes of beet and links farm deliveries to a processing operation lasting nearly four months.

The stated plan establishes clear benchmarks for the campaign: 640,000 tonnes of beet intake, average daily processing of 5,600 tonnes and 87,000 tonnes of crystal sugar. Meeting them would add a defined volume to Turkish supply while supporting beet purchases through 13 regional collection centres. No information was provided on beet procurement prices, sugar selling prices, investment spending or the destination of the factory’s output.
