The market volume for sweetened and flavoured yoghurt in Denmark showed significant variation between 2018 and 2023. Consumption rose sharply to 40 753 tonnes in 2019, supported by health-conscious consumer preferences and growing demand for portable, on-the-go yoghurt formats. However, the market declined to 38 471 tonnes in 2020 as interest in plant-based dairy alternatives expanded. Further contraction to 35 785 tonnes in 2021 occurred amid global supply chain disruptions and rising cocoa prices, which increased production costs for yoghurt containing cocoa.

Major dairy companies played a central role throughout the period. State-owned Arla Foods maintained a strong market presence with its established brands. Product innovation continued, exemplified by Danone's expansion of probiotic yoghurt lines and launch of dairy-free alternatives by 2023. Despite these developments, market volume fell to 27 900 tonnes in 2022 and 24 700 tonnes in 2023, pressured by persistently high cocoa prices that affected manufacturing costs.
