In 2020, the country produced 3 342 thousand tons, representing a slight decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous year. Exports wood in the rough from Sri Lanka

From 2017 to 2020, Japan, Maldives, and Slovenia were the main destinations for Sri Lanka's wood in the rough exports. Japan accounted for 28.0% of exports in kind, Maldives for 24.0%, and Slovenia for 21.9%. Together, these three countries absorbed 73.8% of total exports.

The data shows irregular changes, indicating a volatile market environment. Exports reached their lowest point in 2019 and peaked in 2018, with a 10.9-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Sri Lanka exported 13.5 thousand US dollars worth of wood in the rough, marking a dramatic improvement of 64.8% from the previous year.
