Angola's wood in the rough production increased from 3 915 thousand tons in 2018 to 4 045 thousand tons in 2020, driven by the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 171/18 which established minimum export prices and combated illegal logging, fostering more sustainable forest management. Enhanced enforcement and the growth of national companies focused on industrial exploitation supported this steady rise in legal output.

Production continued its upward trajectory, reaching 4 253 thousand tons by 2023. This growth was reinforced by the Ministry of Agriculture's decision in 2021 to reduce forest exploitation licenses to 100, consolidating the sector. The subsequent shift from annual licenses to a forest concession system in 2022 aimed at long-term sustainability, while the 2023 three-year ban on exports of raw wood incentivized domestic processing and helped sustain production volumes.

In 2024, the wood processing industry recorded a 5.5% increase in activity, supported by investments from companies like Grupo Abílio Amorim in expanding sawmilling and transformation capacity. Updated commercial legislation simplified licensing for timber-related activities, although macroeconomic factors such as currency devaluation and inflation presented ongoing challenges for the market.
