Wood fuel production in Mongolia held steady at around 600 thousand m³ in 2018 and 2019. During this period, the broader fuel market saw the entry of new players like Unigaz and investments in storage and transport infrastructure, which helped maintain stable supply conditions.

A sharp rise to 732 thousand m³ occurred in 2020, coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic. The disruption likely increased reliance on local solid fuels for heating, while government support measures for the energy sector helped sustain production.

From 2021 to 2023, output grew gradually to 736 thousand m³. This trend aligned with state emphasis on alternative fuels, highlighted by the Prime Minister's 2022 visit to the Tavan Tolgoi Tuls briquette plant, and was further supported by energy cooperation with international partners like Rosneft, Russia, and China.
