Subsequent years saw continued planting efforts, including TotalEnergies' project to plant over a million trees in 2021, directly increasing the volume of wood available for fuel production.

Regulatory reforms and economic conditions further underpinned market growth. The introduction of a new forestry code in 2020 and a log export ban from July 2023 helped redirect timber resources toward the domestic market, securing raw material for wood fuel. Concurrently, factors like elevated inflation and widespread poverty maintained demand for wood fuel as an affordable energy source, sustaining consumption levels throughout the period.

Congo's wood fuel production has increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 1,551 thousand cubic meters of wood fuel, marking a modest 1.4% increase from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 4.3%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.4%.
