Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for wheat bran, sharps and residues in Bosnia and Herzegovina contracted significantly from 102 741 tons in 2018 to a low of 72 749 tons in 2022. This decline was driven by a sharp, multi-year fall in imports, which dropped by over 60% from 37 890 tons to 14 880 tons over the same period, alongside increased export activity that removed additional product from the domestic supply.

A clear turnaround began in 2023, with the market volume recovering to 79 210 tons and further to 82 589 tons in 2024. This rebound coincided with a resurgence in imports, which rose to 24 020 tons in 2023, while domestic production remained stable around 63 000 tons and exports fell to minimal levels.

In value terms, the market told a different story, peaking at 17.1 million USD in 2021 despite lower physical volume, which indicates a period of higher unit prices. By 2024, however, the market value had fallen to 13.5 million USD as physical volumes recovered, suggesting a shift to lower price conditions.
