Earlier Report Observations

The European market for uranium ores and concentrates saw its volume peak at 3 769 tonnes in 2019 before beginning a multi-year decline. After a modest decrease to 3 627 tonnes in 2020, the market contracted more sharply in the following years.

The market volume fell to 3 121 tonnes in 2021 and then to 2 629 tonnes in 2022. This significant reduction in production and market volume was primarily driven by geopolitical disruptions, including the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the outbreak of military conflict in Ukraine, which constrained supply chains and reduced material availability on the spot market.
