From 2018 to 2022, the market volume for unroasted coffee in Liberia expanded from 621 t to over 704 t. This growth occurred within a sector characterized by small-scale farming of Liberica and Robusta varieties, with no major industrial facilities reported. Production remained steady between 620 t and 656 t, while intermittent imports contributed to the overall increase in available volume.

The market volume retreated to 657 t in 2023, mainly due to a sharp reduction in imports. That year, structural reforms began with the launch of a cooperative training program by the International Trade Centre and local farmers' unions, alongside a new sector policy from the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority designed to improve quality, combat illicit trade, and strengthen producer capabilities.

In 2024, the government designated Liberica coffee as a national priority under the FAO's 'One Country One Priority Product' initiative, driving promotion through agricultural fairs and local entrepreneurship. These efforts, coinciding with historically high global coffee prices, were followed by a substantial rise in export volumes, signaling a strategic focus on international markets.
