From 2018 to 2021, the Croatian uncooked pasta market experienced notable shifts in volume. After an initial decline to 35 thousand tonnes in 2019, consumption recovered to over 36 thousand tonnes in 2020 and then surged to 39.1 thousand tonnes in 2021, marking the highest point in the period. This growth in volume was accompanied by a significant rise in market value, which jumped from 42.2 million USD in 2020 to 53 million USD in 2021.

The market volume stabilized around 39 thousand tonnes in 2022 and saw a slight dip to 38.5 thousand tonnes in 2023. However, in monetary terms, the market continued to expand strongly, reaching 64.8 million USD in 2023, indicating a sustained increase in the value of pasta sales despite flat physical consumption.

In 2024, the market volume contracted sharply to 32.9 thousand tonnes, a drop of over 14% from the previous year. The market value also fell to 53.3 million USD, yet this decline was less pronounced than in volume terms, suggesting changes in product mix or pricing dynamics within the sector.

Production uncooked pasta in Croatia

Following a two-year decline, Croatia's production volume of uncooked pasta increased. In 2020, 17 647 tonnes were produced, marking a slight rise of 1.3% from 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production decreased by 7%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 2.4%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 17 412 tonnes, with the largest decline that year at 5.1%.
