From 2018 to 2020, the treenuts market volume in Liberia gradually increased from 2 915 t to 3 023 t. This growth aligned with the enactment of the law establishing the Liberia Special Economic Zone Authority (LSEZA) and government initiatives to attract foreign direct investment in agriculture, which stimulated economic activity. In 2020, economic challenges including trade deficits affected market dynamics, yet volume continued to rise.

The market volume surged to 3 618 t in 2021, marking a peak for the period. However, it dropped to 2 991 t in 2022, coinciding with the launch of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) project aimed at long-term agro-industrial development. By 2023, volume stabilized at 3 003 t, with the expansion of agricultural land and global fuel price fluctuations influencing costs and availability.

In 2024, the government held the National Agriculture Fair and introduced programs like the Youth Agri-Challenge and the development of a National Cocoa Seed Garden to enhance productivity and engage youth in agriculture. These measures, along with partnerships with international bodies, focus on strengthening food security and economic diversification.
