However, legislative caps on THC concentration and complexities in the prescription process led manufacturers to discontinue certain extract variants, tightening supply. This contributed to a contraction, with domestic production at 4.1 million USD, imports falling to 6.2 million USD, and the total market size reducing to 7.5 million USD.

The market recovered in 2023, with production rising to 4.5 million USD and imports increasing to 7.2 million USD, lifting the market size to 8.1 million USD. By 2025, export value surged sharply to 9.5 million USD, indicating expanded production or international demand, while imports grew steadily to 10.9 million USD.

In 2021, exports totaled 2 914 thousand US dollars, a decrease of 6.9% compared to 2020. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports increased by 3.8%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.2%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 3 424 thousand US dollars, which saw the largest increase of 22.0%. The largest decline occurred in 2020, with an 8.6% drop.

Imports totaled 7 435 thousand US dollars, marking a 9.1% improvement over the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, imports decreased by 19.9%, with a compound annual decline of 7.1%. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 6 812 thousand US dollars, which saw the largest decline of 16.7% in 2019.

From 2018 to 2021, Ireland, Germany, and the United States led as the top suppliers of tea or mate extracts and preparations to Czechia in value terms.
