Earlier Report Observations

Vietnam's tea market volume showed considerable movement between 2018 and 2023. The market contracted to 890 thousand tons in 2019 from 1 060 thousand tons the previous year, then entered a phase of steady growth, reaching 1 023 thousand tons by 2023.

This recovery was supported by rising domestic production, which increased from 1 018 thousand tons in 2019 to 1 125 thousand tons in 2023. During the same period, export volumes, which had risen sharply in 2019, remained at elevated levels.

The overall trajectory resulted in a market volume in 2023 that was slightly above the 2018 level, reflecting a rebound in domestic availability after the initial downturn.
