Earlier Report Observations
After a period of stability in 2018-2019, the market volume for tea in packings ≤3 kg in the CIS rose to 142.4 K t in 2020. This surge was driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, which boosted at-home tea consumption and spurred production to 134.1 K t.
Growth continued over the next two years, with the market reaching 177.6 K t in 2022. The exit of the major foreign player Ekaterra in August 2022 and the ramp-up of domestic producers like OOO «Orimi» supported local manufacturing to replace imports, amid sanctions affecting supply chains.
In 2023, the market contracted to 153.1 K t and production fell to 141.0 K t. This decline reflected the aftermath of foreign players' withdrawal and ongoing restrictions on raw material imports due to geopolitical events.
