Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the Lithuanian market for tarpaulins, awnings and sunblinds showed initial stability followed by growth. Market volume stood at 483 tonnes in 2018, edged down slightly to 473 tonnes in 2019, and then rose to 520 tonnes in 2020. This increase was supported by growing consumer interest in automated control systems for blinds and awnings, as well as a heightened focus on energy savings and comfort, which boosted demand for products like aluminium horizontal blinds that regulate light and prevent overheating.

The market expanded sharply in 2021, reaching 829 tonnes, a surge of 59% from the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by strong demand for smart, app-controlled curtain and blind systems, alongside shifting consumer preferences towards natural colours and thermo-insulating fabrics that help maintain optimal room temperature. However, in 2022 the market contracted by 10% to 746 tonnes, even as technological advancements and a variety of sun-protection products remained available.

After the 2022 dip, market volume continued to decrease moderately to 711 tonnes in 2023, before recovering to 746 tonnes in 2024, a level similar to that seen two years earlier.
