Earlier Report Observations

In 2018, the synthetic latex rubber market in Italy showed signs of recovery, with market volume reaching 144.8 thousand tons, supported by a revival in European production and consumption. The market then contracted over the following two years, falling to 137.0 thousand tons in 2019 and further to 113.2 thousand tons in 2020, before a sharp rebound in 2021 lifted volume to 143.4 thousand tons.

After the 2021 peak, market volume declined again to 117.3 thousand tons in 2022 and 94.2 thousand tons in 2023. In 2024, volume recovered strongly to 124.1 thousand tons. This growth was facilitated by Kumho Petrochemical's expansion of nitrile rubber latex production capacity, enhancing the availability of high-quality synthetic rubber for the Italian market, and by Synthomer's modernization of European plants, which improved production efficiency.
