Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for stone, ceramics and glass sawing machines in Poland displayed considerable variation between 2018 and 2022. After an initial contraction to 33 824 units in 2019, demand rebounded strongly, reaching a peak of 60 752 units in 2021 before moderating to 57 565 units in 2022. The longstanding ban on asbestos-containing products, enforced since 1998, shaped a specific segment of the market for processing asbestos-cement materials throughout the period.

Domestic production remained at a relatively low level compared to trade flows, fluctuating between 194 and 344 units annually. The presence of advanced machinery suppliers, such as PROMASZ with its PLC-controlled saws, supported the technical capabilities of the sector. Market size movements were primarily driven by changes in international trade. Imports surged from 37 619 units in 2019 to over 65 000 units in 2021-2022, while exports grew markedly, especially in 2023 when they exceeded 21 000 units.

In the later years, from 2023 to 2024, import volumes settled between 32 000 and 36 000 units, and exports retreated from the 2023 peak to 7 016 units in 2024. Research initiatives focused on asbestos waste recycling, noted in 2022, indicated ongoing development in processing technologies that could influence future equipment demand.
