A strong rebound in 2021 pushed the market to its peak of 62 696 tonnes, a rise of over 40% from the previous year. Volume then stabilized near 62 400 tonnes in 2022, followed by a decline of nearly 10% to 56 198 tonnes in 2023.

Pakistan's starches production saw a two-year increase before declining. In 2019, production reached its peak at 78,154 tonnes, marking a significant 54.5% increase from the previous year. However, by 2020, production dropped to 63,390 tonnes, representing an 18.9% decrease compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production grew by 36.9%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 11.0%.

Exports in kind, t

Pakistan's starches exports advanced for two years before declining. In 2018, exports grew by 31.2%, and in 2019, they reached a high of 35,090 tonnes. However, in 2020, exports fell to 27,192 tonnes, showing a substantial 22.5% decrease from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports increased by 31.9%, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.7%.
