China's spinach production grew for the third year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 28 779 thousand tonnes, marking a modest 4.5% increase from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 13.1%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 4.2%.

Exports spinach from China

Exports in kind, t

China's spinach exports expanded for the third consecutive year. In 2020, export volume reached 60 722 tonnes, a sharp 834.6% jump from 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, exports surged by 1 074.4%, averaging an annual growth rate of 127.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Hong Kong and Malaysia were the main destinations for China's spinach exports, together accounting for 80.3% of the total volume, with other countries making up the rest.

During 2017-2020, Hong Kong dominated China's spinach export value, holding an 82.1% share of total exports, while other markets contributed to a smaller portion.
