From 2018 to 2023, the Mongolian shelled hazelnuts market volume fluctuated between 104.5 t and 120.2 t. After a drop to 104.5 t in 2019, the market recovered to 118.3 t in 2021, then settled around 112 t in the following two years.

Domestic production followed a similar pattern, declining from 114.9 t in 2018 to 99.0 t in 2019 before gradually rising to 105.9 t by 2023. Imports supplemented domestic supply, reaching 11.2 t in 2021 before falling back to 7.0 t.

In 2024, imports halved to 3.6 t, a change that occurred alongside Russia's increase in export tax on pine nuts, which may have influenced trade flows for nuts in the region.
