After rising for two years, safety glass exports from Spain dropped in 2020. That year, exports totaled 70.1 thousand tonnes, a 20.8% decrease from 2019. From 2017 to 2020, exports fell by 11.8%, with an average annual decline of 4.1%. The highest volume was recorded in 2019 at 88.5 thousand tonnes, which also experienced the largest increase of 6.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, Portugal, France, and Germany were the core destinations for Spain's safety glass exports in volume terms. Portugal accounted for 37.0% of exports, France for 21.5%, and Germany for 12.0%, together making up 70.5% of total flows.

From 2017 to 2020, imports increased by 21.3%, with an average annual growth rate of 6.7%. The highest volume was in 2019 at 107.4 thousand tonnes, which also recorded the largest increase of 20.4%.
