The market volume of coniferous roundwood in Serbia reached a peak of 539 thousand m³ in 2019, representing a 16% increase from the previous year. This growth aligned with higher industrial production in the country, which raised demand for wood raw materials used in further processing. The state-owned enterprise 'Srbijašume' remained the dominant supplier throughout the period, offering a broad assortment of coniferous roundwood.

Following the 2019 peak, the market entered a prolonged downturn, contracting to 392 thousand m³ by 2023—a cumulative decline of 27%. The most significant single-year drop occurred in 2021, when market volume fell by 12%. The overall reduction reflects a sustained decrease in domestic supply or consumption over these years.

In 2024, timber harvesting volume in Serbia decreased by 8% compared to the previous year, indicating a tightening of roundwood availability. Concurrently, rising furniture exports and foreign investment in the wood processing sector continue to drive demand for coniferous roundwood as a key raw material.

After two years of growth, Serbia's roundwood coniferous production declined. In 2020, Serbia produced 514.0 K m³ of roundwood coniferous, marking a slight reduction of 2.5% compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production increased by 33.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of 10.1%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 527.0 K m³, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 17.1%.

Serbia's roundwood coniferous exports declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, Serbia exported 3 682 m³ of roundwood coniferous, down by 12.7% compared to 2019. From 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 43.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of 17.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Slovenia, Austria, and North Macedonia were the leading destinations for Serbia's roundwood coniferous exports in kind. Slovenia accounted for 31.2% of exports, Austria for 29.1%, and North Macedonia for 13.9%, with these three countries together representing 74.2% of total export flows.

In 2020, Serbia's foreign roundwood coniferous supplies amounted to 1 333 K $ US, showing an increase of 22.1% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 15.7%, equating to an annualized rate of 5.0%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 1 092 K $ US, while the highest was in 2018 at 1 354 K $ US. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 19.4%.

Serbia's roundwood coniferous imports declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, Serbia imported approximately 16 233 m³ of roundwood coniferous, down by 1.3% compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, imports decreased by 8.8%, equating to an annualized rate of 3.0%. The highest import volume was recorded in 2018 at 19 738 m³. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 16.7%, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 10.9%.

Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports decreased by 10.6%, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.7%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 934 K $ US. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 18.6%, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 20.8%.
