Earlier Report Observations

The Caribbean market for raw bovine and equine hides and skins expanded steadily from 2018 to 2021, with its volume growing from 18 101 t to 20 427 t. This increase followed a recovery in domestic production, which rose to 27 649 t in 2021 after a previous decline.

Market volume corrected to 19 059 t in 2022, a decrease of 7%, before stabilizing at 19 170 t in 2023. The 2022 contraction coincided with a significant rise in export shipments, which reached 9 337 t that year.
