In 2022, market volume decreased to 8 871 tons while its value rose to 51.7 million US dollars. Global supply-chain disruptions and raw-material volatility raised production costs, increasing ink prices. Concurrently, EU chemical safety regulations (REACH) and corporate sustainability targets shifted demand toward higher-priced eco-friendly, low-VOC, and bio-based inks, boosting the average value per ton.

The contraction continued through 2023 and 2024, with volume dropping to 7 262 tons and then 6 053 tons. Market value followed, falling to 48.5 million US dollars in 2023 and 42.2 million US dollars in 2024, marking a sustained decrease in physical consumption.
