The market volume for printing, writing and drawing inks in Croatia, measured in tonnes, contracted from 4 990 t in 2018 to 4 142 t by 2024. This overall decline was interrupted by a recovery to 5 103 t in 2021, but the subsequent years saw a return to downward movement. Domestic production fell sharply from 365 t to 168 t over the period, while imports decreased from 4 872 t to 4 268 t. Exports more than doubled from 247 t to a peak of 669 t in 2022 before moderating to 325 t in 2024.

In value terms, the market told a different story, rising from $31.9 million in 2018 to $36.0 million in 2024, with a notable peak of $42.4 million in 2021. This increase in market value occurred despite lower physical volumes, indicating a significant rise in average prices or a shift towards higher-value products. Import value grew from $35.5 million to $43.4 million, while export value also increased steadily from $6.1 million to $8.4 million, reflecting changes in trade flows and product mix.

From 2017 to 2020, production decreased by 15.5%, averaging an annual decline of 5.5%. The peak was in 2018 at 365.1 tonnes, with the largest increase that year of 8.6%. The most substantial decline happened in 2019, with a drop of 19.1%.

Croatia's exports of printing, writing, and drawing inks increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports reached 357 tonnes, up 27.4% from 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, exports grew by 19.6%, with an annualized increase of 6.1%. The lowest value was in 2018 at 247 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 17.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Hungary were the key partners for Croatia's exports of printing, writing, and drawing inks in kind. Bosnia and Herzegovina accounted for 25.8% of exports, Slovenia for 23.1%, and Hungary for 19.3%. Together, these three countries represented 68.2% of total export flows.
