Malaysia's production of primary sugar crops increased for the second consecutive year. In 2021, the country produced 25,591 tonnes, marking an 8.8% increase compared to 2020. Over the 2018-2021 period, production grew by 9%, with an average annual growth rate of 2.9%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 20,761 tonnes, which represented an 11.6% decline from the previous year. The largest increase occurred in 2020, with production rising by 13.3%.
