Production of primary sugar crops in Guinea increased gradually from 311.7 thousand tons in 2018 to 323.6 thousand tons in 2023. This upward trend was initially supported by the launch of the AgriFARM project in 2018, which aimed to enhance the resilience and market access of family farms, encouraging sustained agricultural output.

The entry of the Moroccan-Guinean company Comaguis (Cosumar) into the sugar market in 2021 brought new investment and strengthened the marketing of sugar, boosting demand for raw sugar crops. Continued efforts under the AgriFARM project and government measures, including tax exemptions and price stabilization protocols for essential goods like sugar, further contributed to the steady production growth through 2023.
