From 2017 to 2020, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Vietnam were the primary export destinations for prepared or preserved beef and offal from Eastern Africa, together accounting for 81.4% of total export volumes. The remaining share was distributed among various other markets.

In 2019, imports reached their lowest point at 1 562 tonnes, but then rose to 1 652 tonnes in 2020, showing a modest year-over-year increase of 5.7%. Over the entire period from 2017 to 2020, imports decreased by 13%, corresponding to an average annual decline of 4.5%. The largest drop was recorded in 2019, when imports fell by 13.8%.
