Earlier Report Observations

The poultry meat market in Azerbaijan showed steady growth from 2018 to 2023, with production increasing from 218.2 thousand tons to 275 thousand tons. This expansion was primarily driven by a significant rise in output from the private sector and household farms, which had already grown by 86% between 2015 and 2018. The market's foundation was supported by the activity of 26 poultry enterprises, involving both state and private participants.

Domestic production was complemented by imports to meet demand, maintaining a self-sufficiency rate around 79%. Government policies focused on agricultural development, including plans to revive farming in post-conflict regions, provided further impetus for increasing meat output. In 2022 and 2023, rising prices for poultry meat created additional incentives for producers to expand supply, contributing to continued market growth.

Consumer behavior adapted to changing price levels, yet demand for poultry remained strong, supporting a consistent rise in market volume to 303.1 thousand tons by 2023. The ongoing implementation of state agricultural support policies ensured a favorable environment for production growth throughout the period.
