This expansion was primarily driven by a significant rise in output from the private sector and household farms, which had already grown by 86% between 2015 and 2018. The market's foundation was supported by the activity of 26 poultry enterprises, involving both state and private participants.

Domestic production was complemented by imports to meet demand, maintaining a self-sufficiency rate around 79%. Government policies focused on agricultural development, including plans to revive farming in post-conflict regions, provided further impetus for increasing meat output. In 2022 and 2023, rising prices for poultry meat created additional incentives for producers to expand supply, contributing to continued market growth.

Consumer behavior adapted to changing price levels, yet demand for poultry remained strong, supporting a consistent rise in market volume to 303.1 thousand tons by 2023. The ongoing implementation of state agricultural support policies ensured a favorable environment for production growth throughout the period.

Overall, export volumes varied 26-fold between the high in 2019 and the low in 2020.

From 2018 to 2021, Vietnam, Belarus, and Myanmar remained the top buyers of Azerbaijani poultry meat and offal, accounting for 45.0%, 33.6%, and 16.6% of exports in kind, respectively. Together, these three countries represented 95.3% of total exports in kind during this period.
