Lithuania's potato market volume showed notable volatility between 2018 and 2023. It expanded to 320.5 thousand tons in 2019, then contracted over the next two years, falling to 186.1 thousand tons in 2021. This downturn coincided with a significant decline in domestic production, which dropped from 329.8 thousand tons in 2019 to 200.2 thousand tons in 2021.

A recovery phase began in 2022, with the market volume reaching 243.0 thousand tons and further rising to 273.7 thousand tons in 2023. This rebound was supported by a revival in production, which increased to 267.3 thousand tons by 2023, while import volumes remained higher than pre-2020 levels.

Lithuania's potato production has declined for the second year in a row. In 2021, the country produced 200.2 thousand tonnes of potatoes, which represents a 32.5% decrease compared to the previous year. Looking at the period from 2018 to 2021, production fell by 30.9%, averaging an annual decline of 11.6%. The highest production volume was recorded in 2019 at 329.8 thousand tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 13.8%.

Lithuania's potato production value has decreased for the second consecutive year. In 2021, the output was valued at 32 712 thousand US dollars, marking a 38.5% drop from 2020. Between 2018 and 2021, the production value declined by 40.6%, with an average annual decrease of 16.0%. The peak value occurred in 2019 at 75 275 thousand US dollars, which also experienced the largest annual increase of 36.6%.

Lithuania's potato export volume has increased for the third year in a row. In 2021, exports totaled 29 919 tonnes, showing a significant rise of 34.8% compared to the previous year. From 2018 to 2021, exports grew by 107.6%, averaging an annual increase of 27.6%.

Between 2018 and 2021, Latvia, Ukraine, and Italy were the primary markets for Lithuania's potato exports in volume terms. Latvia accounted for 34.5% of exports, Ukraine for 28.6%, and Italy for 9.1%. Together, these three countries represented 72.3% of total export flows.
