The market peak in 2020 marked a significant high point before a subsequent downturn.

After peaking in 2020, the market entered a downward trend, with volume dropping to 886 thousand tons in 2021 and further to 721 thousand tons in 2023. The 2023 harvest was notably smaller due to delayed harvesting and limited availability, leading to higher prices. During this period, consumer demand shifted toward fresh, high-quality regional potatoes, while price became a more decisive purchase criterion.
