Earlier Report Observations

Between 2018 and 2021, the Hungarian plastic furniture market grew steadily, with its value increasing from 19 255 thousand USD to 30 240 thousand USD. This expansion was supported by the introduction of more durable, weather-resistant designs and the emergence of new product segments, such as furniture made from recycled plastic with a rattan effect. The DIY trend gained popularity, and the shift to online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic helped sustain demand. At the same time, growing environmental awareness led to the adoption of solvent-free adhesives and products with low formaldehyde content.

Market value peaked in 2021 before declining to 29 077 thousand USD in 2022, pressured by global raw material shortages and exchange rate volatility following the war in Ukraine. A sharp contraction followed, with the market falling to 16 404 thousand USD in 2023 and then to 9 798 thousand USD in 2024. Throughout the period, consumer preferences for easy maintenance, weather resistance, and eco‑friendly materials remained consistent features of the market.
