New 'design-for-recycling' specifications and the announcement of EU Green Funding grants for recycling investments prompted manufacturers to innovate. Although rising polymer prices in 2023 increased production costs, sustained demand driven by these environmental initiatives and preparatory measures for the Deposit-Return-Scheme (DRS) helped the market achieve substantial expansion.

Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 44.2%, which translates to an annualized decline of 17.7%. The highest production value was recorded in 2018 at 9 673 thousand US dollars, with the largest increase that year at 9.0%. The most significant drop occurred in 2019, with a decline of 48.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, exports increased by 3.9%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.3%. The peak export volume was recorded in 2018 at 359 tonnes, which saw the largest increase of 14.6%. The most substantial decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 5.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, the main destinations for Greece's exports of plastic baths, sinks, and wash-basins in volume terms were Cyprus, accounting for 22.6% of exports, Italy with 16.9%, and Libya at 16.7%. Together, these three countries represented 56.2% of total export flows.
