However, these broader industry developments did not reverse the declining consumption trend in Sweden.

In 2024, the market volume stabilized at 612.0 thousand m³. This coincided with significant investments by major players like Egger Group and Boise Cascade in sustainable production capacity and recycling technology, as well as Kronospan's acquisition strategy to strengthen its footprint. Furthermore, tightening formaldehyde emission standards in regions like the EU and growing consumer demand for eco-friendly building materials provided a backdrop for market steadiness.

The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 60.2 thousand cubic meters, which represented a 30.3% decrease from the previous year.
