Bulgaria's particle board production volume has increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, 376.3 thousand cubic meters were produced, reflecting a strong gain of 18.0% compared to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, production rose by 12.7%, equating to an annualized growth rate of 4.1%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2018 at 280.1 thousand cubic meters, which also experienced the largest decline of 16.1%.

Particle board exports from Bulgaria have increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports totaled 328.7 thousand cubic meters, marking a strong improvement of 14.6% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports grew by 21.7%, with an annualized rate of 6.8%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 227.1 thousand cubic meters, which saw the largest decline of 15.9%. In contrast, the largest increase occurred in 2019, with a rise of 26.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Greece, Algeria, and North Macedonia consistently held the leading positions in Bulgaria's export structure by volume. Greece accounted for 40.2% of exports, Algeria for 13.7%, and North Macedonia for 9.2%. Together, these three countries represented 63.0% of total export flows.
