At the same time, local sales for edible oils and biodiesel remained strong, supporting continued import demand. In 2019, imports reached their minimum at 24 336 thousand US dollars, a 19.5% decrease from the previous year. By 2020, imports rose to 39 778 thousand US dollars, reflecting a substantial 63.5% increase compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, imports grew by 22.6%, with an annualized rate of 7.0%.
