Market volume recovered to 707 thousand m³ in 2021, with a value of 240 million USD, as continued pandemic effects shifted consumer preferences toward eco-friendly building materials like OSB. However, in 2022, both volume and value fell sharply to 639 thousand m³ and 200 million USD, reflecting broader economic challenges.

A significant rebound followed in 2023, with volume surging to 824 thousand m³ and value stabilizing at 200 million USD. Poland's OSB production declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 1 million cubic meters of OSB, which was 11.2% lower than in 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 8.6%, averaging an annual decrease of 3.0%. The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 1 million cubic meters, with the largest year-on-year increase of 7.0% also occurring that year.

Exports OSB from Poland

Exports in kind, K m³

In 2020, Poland exported 410.2 thousand cubic meters of OSB, marking a strong increase of 11.5% compared to 2019. From 2017 to 2020, exports grew by 9.8%, with an average annual growth rate of 3.2%. The lowest export volume was in 2019 at 368.0 thousand cubic meters, which also saw the largest decline of 5.3% during the period.

From 2017 to 2020, the main markets for Poland's OSB exports by volume were Czechia, accounting for 26.5% of exports, Germany at 16.6%, and the Netherlands at 14.8%. Together, these three countries made up 57.9% of total export flows.

Poland's OSB export value declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 87.1 million US dollars, a decrease of 3.6% year-on-year. Over the 2017-2020 period, export value increased by 11.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.7%. The peak was in 2018 at 109.5 million US dollars, which also experienced the largest increase of 40.1%. The largest decline occurred in 2019, dropping by 17.5%.

Imports reached their lowest point in 2018 at 125.2 thousand cubic meters, with the largest decline of 6.1% occurring that year. By 2020, imports surged to 268.8 thousand cubic meters, a sharp increase of 106.5% from the previous year. The variation between the maximum in 2020 and the minimum in 2018 was 2.1-fold.
