Earlier Report Observations

The Greek fresh olive market volume grew substantially in 2019, reaching 3 235 thousand tons compared to 2 761 thousand tons in 2018. This increase was supported by the activity of the Union of Olive Municipalities of Crete (ΣΕΔΗΚ), an inter-municipal body that improved the organization and management of olive production. Subsequently, the market volume declined to 3 046 thousand tons in 2020 and stabilized near 3 040 thousand tons in 2021.

After recovering to 3 207 thousand tons in 2022, the market experienced a sharp contraction in 2023, with volume falling to 2 496 thousand tons. This decline represented a significant reduction in market size during the latter part of the period.
